In the back half of 2020, M2M One launched our commercially available NBIoT SIMs. Since our official release in August, we have reached just over 1,500 Active Services.
Our Token Plans have made it simple for our customers to get into testing and deployment without needing to manage plans each month. Simply purchase a top-up pack and we will top you up again when you consume the last of your tokens.
Remember that NBIoT applications are best suited toward devices that rarely move and involve extremely low amounts of data usage sent only a handle of times per day.
Knowing when you should and should not be using NBIoT is key in making the most of this new technology.
If you have any questions about our NBIoT SIMs or how our plans work, feel free to email our team at support@m2mone.com.au.

M2M One Control Centre – September Tip ‘VLOOKUP’

Hi Everyone, Ryan here! Part of the Customer Service Manager role is being able to handle excel and create reports so the team has gotten very good at using Microsoft Excel over time.
The key skill I have for you today is not directly related to Jasper, but how best to move the data around in a spreadsheet.

Today’s Lesson: VLOOKUP

Using the VLOOKUP function is one of the most versatile tools to add to your Microsoft Excel arsenal.
I will give you a simple example that can be easily applied to any data set. Let us say I have a set of customer numbers and their current account balance.
You are given a customer number and are expected to know how much that customer account contains straight away, so you need to find that corresponding $$ value in your spreadsheet.

So long as you know your Customer Number is to the left of the data in your table, you can use VLOOKUP to find that information.
Type into the Red Cell:
=VLOOKUP(E5,B3:C10,2,FALSE)

Hitting the enter key on this formula will show you the corresponding value, retrieved from your other table.
But what information do I need to give this formula so that it gives me the right information (let alone anything) back?
This simple formula can be applied in so many different ways and is excellent for building spreadsheets useful for analysing the data you can export from the M2M One Control Centre.

Sierra Wireless acquires Auckland-based technology firm M2M One

New Zealand technology firm M2M One NZ has been acquired by Canada-based Sierra Wireless – the world’s leading IoT solutions provider.

Sierra Wireless® offers a broad portfolio of edge-to-cloud solutions, comprised of embedded and networking devices seamlessly integrated with network connectivity services and cloud software. OEMs and enterprises worldwide rely on Sierra Wireless’ 25 years of expertise in delivering fully integrated solutions to reduce complexity, turn data into intelligence and get their connected products and services to market faster. Sierra Wireless, who employ over 1000 people globally and has an annual revenue of $448M USD, made the acquisition to further grow its footprint in the ANZ region.

M2M One NZ provides wireless products and services for the Machine to Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) industries. Established in 2015, they are a leading provider of M2M/IoT SIM cards which help SME customers connect devices and wirelessly transmit data in industrial and remote locations.

M2M One NZ, which has offices in Auckland and Christchurch, is led by General Manager Lone Misikini. Under Misikini’s guidance, the acquisition will see M2M One NZ transition its business to focus more broadly on the design and deployment of wireless IoT  systems for industries including agriculture, manufacturing, security, mobile payments and transport.

“At a time when we are feeling isolated, we are proud that our capability and the position we have built alongside our customers & strategic partner Spark NZ, has been recognised by one of the biggest wireless technology players in the world,” says Misikini.

“By becoming part of the Sierra Wireless group of companies, we will be able to grow further and both access and accelerate the adoption of the world’s best wireless technology to the benefit of NZ businesses and industry,” he adds.

M2M One NZ is the second ANZ company Sierra Wireless has acquired. In January 2020, Sierra Wireless acquired the M2M Group in Australia for $19.6M USD. M2M One NZ will become part of the ANZ-based M2M Group under Sierra Wireless creating new trans-Tasman opportunities for customers.

Darren Moroney, Vice President Recurring Revenue ANZ, said: “M2M One NZ has a strong management team and solid carrier relations in the region. We hope to build on these foundations and the take up of our IoT services and solutions in New Zealand.”

“As part of the M2M Group, M2M One NZ will have access to a global portfolio of world-class hardware, support and design services to incorporate into the NZ market. Plus, the ability to tap into the knowledge and expertise Sierra Wireless has honed over the past 25 years,” says Moroney.

Moving forward, a core focus of the company will be to scale up its connectivity business and add cloud-based solutions, commonly called ‘device-to-cloud’, including Sierra Wireless’ Octave™ all-in-one IoT solution.

Tony Agar, IoT lead at Spark New Zealand, welcomed the acquisition. “M2M One NZ is a valuable partner and this acquisition will not only strengthen their position in the market, but also create new growth opportunities for Spark and our customers. This is a win-win for innovation and industry in NZ,” Agar said.
